Committees


Communications and Awareness Committee

The purpose of this committee will be:

  • to promote this Local through public relations;
  • to issue a newsletter as required;
  • to promote union issues to the members of this Local;
  • to promote union issues and disseminate union information to the members in their building;
  • to support the PSAC and the UTE in their endeavours;
  • to solicit input from the members as to their concerns, interests, desires and so on;
  • recruiting new members for union activities and participation; and
  • raising the visibility of Executive Council members.

The Communications and Awareness Committee shall be allocated a budget of $2,500.00 per annum. The committee shall have this fund available at the beginning of each November. The communication and Awareness Committee shall have the authority to spend up to $1,000.00 upon approval of the committee for any needs as deemed necessary by the committee. Any disbursement of $500.00 or more will be reported as an information item at the next scheduled meeting of the Executive Council. Amounts in excess of $1,000.00 will require the prior approval of the Executive Council.


RAND Recruitment Committee

The purpose of this committee is to:

  • sign up all members of the Local who are RAND members; and
  • do a recruitment mailout of RANDs at least once a year.


UTE Bylaws Committee

The purpose of this committee is to:

  • to review this Local's Bylaws and Regulations for consistency with the Bylaws of the UTE and the Constitution of the PSAC;
  • to review this Local's Bylaws and Regulations for current relevancy to this Local's business;
  • to prepare any required motions to amend this Local's Bylaws and Regulations to be presented for acceptance to the Executive Council and subsequent presentation for adoption to the members at the Annual General Meeting or Special General Meeting;
  • to review any motions made by the members in good standing of this Local to amend this Local's Bylaws and Regulations and to present the committee's recommendations to the appropriate body;
  • to review the Bylaws of the UTE and prepare any required motions to amend those Bylaws for presentation to the Executive Council for acceptance and subsequent forwarding to the UTE for presentation to the delegates for adoption at the Triennial; and
  • to review the Constitution of the PSAC and prepare any required motions to amend the Alliance Constitution for presentation to the Executive Council for acceptance and subsequent forwarding to the UTE for presentation to the delegates for adoption at the Triennial Convention.


Collective Bargaining Committee

The purpose of this committee is to:

  • obtain collective bargaining demands from members;
  • publish and have posted any applicable notifications regarding collective bargaining;
  • promote members for appointment to the National Collective Bargaining Teams; and
  • educate members regarding the collective bargaining process and procedures.



Note that these committees can be struck and disbanded at any time and the Local is always looking for hard-working volunteers to help on these committees
